How To Expand Blog's Niche

It has been a while since The Equinox Fashion has stepped into the world of cuisine, and lifestyle. In fact, many things have happened since March including my YouTube channel, which back in the service again. It can be said that I have officially become fashion& lifestyle blogger, and I am really happy about it. Street style always my passion, but I think life is more than just that. It can be noticed that I have posted so many photos of foods, buildings, weird things on my Instagram, 80% fashion + 20% everything else. At first, I was a bit confused about how to develop this blogging sphere to become something else more than just an outfit, or style. So, I have come to the solution that my happy lifestyle is all about food review and hotel review. I love eating, and I love interior design, so why not ?

HOW TO EXPAND TO THE RIGHT NICHE?

I don't do a bit of this and that, only emphasize fashion and those two. Why? Because it can be a bit overwhelmed if I blog about everything I have come across. I feel like my strength is food and travel photography, plus I feel happier when editing the photos more than beauty products too. That is why I feel like food and hotel would be the right targets of my blog, also the audiences too. We have bloggers here who do a recipe post, as well as, those who love the hotel wishlist. Therefore, I think my lifestyle section would be interesting. As mentioned, I tried the beauty products, but it just didn't work for me. I love trying cosmetics, but when it just not the right fit for my blog. Besides, I do not really put the makeup on anyway, so I'd rather read other blogs for advice. I think the best advice from me is to give it a go first. You can try uploading the photos on your Instagram, and see how the feedback goes. You can also blog about everything lifestyle, including music, cafe, etc. However, for me, I feel a bit too much when I have to carry my Nikon and take photo of every single thing in front of me. Hence, I prefer to try, then select what works well for me.

WHAT IF IT DOESN'T WORK?

Then just back to where you from, easy as that. One of the benefits of expanding our blogs is that we gain more audiences. We may get new followers, or people who interested in what we write. Sometimes, I get a great feedback of my food diary, more than the outfit photos lol. People love eating! If you are trying to reach more readers, but it seems like it is not going to work, then just back to the same topic, which you've already had confident to write or vlog about. Trying is not a crime!

  3. These are great ideas. I used to be hesitant in writing different topics on my blog too. But then, it was when I wrote about fashion and stuff other than faith that I got sponsors and attracted more readers.

    Love this street style, btw.

  4. You're right in saying there's no crime/harm in trying! Blogging is meant to be a fun process and so if expanding your topics and loving blogging them along the way sounds like a very, very good outcome :) Looking forward to seeing the direction of your blog over the upcoming months Gail!

  6. these really sound like things you're good at and things you like and know about, so it makes sense for you to blog about them! i've really liked the expansion you've made and it's always good to try new things:-) and like you said, if it doesn't feel right, you can always go back to doing what you did before! (on another note, i was looking at flights the other day and there was cheap tickets to thailand and i wish i could go, haha!) xxx

  8. When I was starting out, I did just beauty posts but now I do beauty, fashion and lifestyle posts mostly. It's really fun to expand your niche, especially when things interest you. Personally, I don't think I would do food/restaurant reviews just cause I don't go out to eat often nor am I that adventurous with my food. Hahaha
