A Little Bit of Yong Thai Designer Story

Dear lovelies,

This week The Equinox Fashion still keeps finding more of those young gen designers in Bangkok, Thailand with a high hope of discovering their ideas, suggestions also attitudes toward fashion industry in this booming city. And here I have the latest interview which I may call it as "story" of a girl whose thesis collection is a representation of Andy Warhol in the style of The Velvet Underground

Who are you?
"When I was younger, people thought my passion was about fashion, runway trend, clothes but to be honest I didn't even know or recognize anything about fashion. I was just a girl who loves drawing and designing, that's all. However, my turning point was when I studied in the last grade in my high-school as I felt I didn't like studying Math&Science (which was my major subjects) because it wasn't who I am. So I made a decision to enroll in DPU or Dhurakij Pundit University and chose fashion design as my major"

Your style?
"I love updating fashion trend in wide variety of styles but I am not really trend follower when it comes to dressing up lol Personally, I love American street style maybe 80's to 90's which was mainly focusing on matching fashion and sportswear. It looks comfy and practically in real life"

Talk about your collection?
"Basically, my thesis collection is a "casual womenswear" which's designed for 20-28 years old metropolitan women. The main target aims for women who love participating in activities such as concert, cycling and etc. Their style represents folk/classic rock also 1960's fashion. This collection is really easy to mix&match especially for those unique punk rockers. If you love Rocker Noci, lead singer of The velvet underground 60's,you might interested in taking a look in my collection"

Inspiration?
"Of course, Andy Warhol! But my muse's Cara Delevingne

Fashion industry in Thailand?
"Nowadays, fashion is one of the topics people talk about because I think it is a part of our daily life. Everywhere is fashion even New York, London, Tokyo or Bangkok,Thailand. There are lots of fashion trends among those fashionistas, designers, fashion lovers and etc. Thus, I think it's quite competitive in Bangkok"

Plan for future?
"I want to work in fashion industry no matter if it will be about cosmetic, creative, design or magazine because I want to gain more working experience"

Well, that's all about my interview with this talented designer :) I really had a good time chitchatting with her even though, it was just a short time. At least I can share a part of fashion perspective from South East Asia that you might not know before. No matter where you live, fashion is such a powerful source which links us together :) So if any of you have something to share, please feel free to contact me right away :)

However, don't be a trend trap, be "style provokative"

Do something and create yourself.

Love

Gail
