Bangkok Gemstone Market
Last Thursday, I had a meeting with Navneet Gems to talk about the growing industry of the wholesale gemstones from Thailand. Also, I was introduced to the magnificent Peridot, which it is a birthstone for August babes (my birthday month!). This casual meeting went well and it was an honour to be able to get to know one of the oldest Indian-Thai companies in Thailand.
Have you ever been to Silom Road before? Not only it is a street for the crazy Songkran festival, but many companies also located there. My memories of this road is all about the massive park, Hindu temple, and my favorite Ramen shop. However, it is the prime location for the wholesale business, as well as, jewelry lovers too. In fact, the wholesale market of this field has been growing constantly, because Thai people are more interested in gems nowadays, compared to the past. Besides, Thailand also offers the reasonable values of the products (well, based on my experience).
As stated above, I was introduced to the gorgeous Peridot, the gemstone of my birthday month, and I absolutely adore it. Normally, my preference in terms of colors is black& violet, yet I also have a soft spot for the green gem like Emerald. My grandmother has passed down lots of Emerald jewelries to my mother, while insisting "Just wait til Gail is OLDER, then she can have these" So, basically, I am not allowed to own them for now.
The sparkling topaz was added around the ring, of course, it makes Peridot look even more dazzling! However, it doesn't have the total green shade like the Emerald. Instead, Peridot usually comes in the light green with the touch of a golden shade. That is why it has been called "The color of summer"
Many times, I bought the rings from the high-street stores, yet they have changed the color to be kind of rusty green, which doesn't look great all all... So, ladies, the advice from the jewelry expert is to keep it in the place with the least moist. For example, if I have to keep this Peridot ring in a box or any types of containers, I will have to put in a small plastic bag, then layer with another bag with a zip lock. As a result, there won't be any air leaking in.
