Harajuku Photoshoot Area that Makes You Feel Like a Local

Where to do a photoshoot at Harajuku? In fact, Tokyo is a paradise for the fashion photoshoot, especially if you are a fan of a city life. One of the most fashion spots, and tourist attraction, this crazy Takeshita street may not be an ideal to do the photo shoot in the middle of the way as there always be loads of people walking. Like in New York City, 'no stopping!' Specially at the weekend, doing the street photo shoot is like a way to kill yourself in the middle of the crowd. However, there are a few spots of Takeshita, Harajuku that made me fall in love.

THERE'S NO WASTING TIME TO SCOUT FOR THE PHOTOSHOOT LOCATION

I always spend at least 20 minutes walking around wherever I go just to look for the right spot for the photoshoot. Likewise, I had spent at least half an hour until I found this location surrounded by nice and cool cafes.

What I really wanted from this trip to Tokyo was to produce the photoshoot for The Equinox Fashion blog with the real local lifestyle feeling. And I think I achieved it actually! It is true that Tokyo is such a big city and you can absolutely feel the modern of the buildings and innovative designs everywhere. However, I decided to do the shooting at the local areas such as this one at Harajuku, as well as, the house area, which I stayed for a week.

KEEP TURNING LEFT/RIGHT TO THE NEW ALLEY

Seriously, I can't exactly tell you where it is but there are lots of right turns where all these cool places exist. The city is so vibrant and trust me I wish I could stay forever...Even the area where I shot like this, the combination of old and new was just perfect for the rainy day. I don't know why but I can really feel  the real Japanese youngster lifestyle from these photos. Cafes, vending machines, normal street with no luxurious addition were very satisfying. I think the more I kept exploring the alleys, the more I could feel like a local. I prefer the local places to tourist attractions. Just so you know, I've been to the UK for several times, but I have never been to the London Eye like ever...I don't know, it is just too cliche I guess. I don't like a tourist because I am one of them, so being faraway from where they are is what I love to do when I travel.

  8. I think you found a great local area and I agree that it's best to find where the locals hangout when you travel somewhere. It allows you to see what it's really like to live in a new place.

  11. The vibrance of the city shows through in your pictures. Blogger heaven! You got me hooked Gail! Great video. The last part with the overhead pedestrian crossing kinda reminds me of a part of Vegas around the Wynn/Aria Hotels. You must have had mad fun. Looking fabulous darling!

  18. You did an amazing job choosing a place that gives that local feeling, girlie! I know that searching for a location can be daunting, I think that's the toughest part, aside from the lighting, haha. I love that top you're wearing with the cut outs on the side, such a nice detail! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you have the best week ahead!
