Bangkok Guide to the Local Area, Sampeng Market

Imagine the area in Bangkok, where you can't find the luxury department store, Instagrammable cafe, or whatever you would expect from a big city. I am from Bangkok, Thailand and I honestly love the diversity of my country. That's why I would love to show you more about the insight of this city, which you can experience the life like a local Bangkokian. If you follow me on The Equinox Fashion Instagram (@thequinoxfashion), you probably notice that the skyscraper is my 'life' I mean, I love taking photos in the city because it represents my personal preference of the living lifestyle. However, a lot of you may not know that I also love the local area. Like I always say when I go traveling as a Thai travel blogger, "To live, act, and experience life like a local is my travel goal" So, here it is, Sampeng Market, the local area of Bangkok you may not want to miss.

If you are here in Bangkok, street food is the 'key' I mean, since the law has changed, there are less street food you can expect nowadays in BKK. However, at Sampeng Market, you can still feel that vibe, while satisfying the stomach with some real local food. Honestly, I don't really eat the street food because I have a very weak stomach...However, it is something that you can get to know more about 'our' culture. What do people eat, apart from the restaurants at the city center. Or, what you can actually buy in the price of less than 50THB ($1)

Here at Sampeng Market, it's the place for every merchant. Instead of going to China and buy a lot of accessories to sell for your online store? You can visit here. Everything is CHEAP, especially in a whole price. I am not going to lie, but this market has almost everything you are looking for. Linked closely to the fabric market, this's the place for every designer. Too many options of the fabric you can expect, and you probably need to spend more than a few hours here. Not only cloth, clothes, but also accessories or even the cosmetics.

Since the weather was too HOT, so I decided to wear just a simple printed "No regret in living life" tee from Crafitystudio. To be honest, it made me feel better because it's very soft due to the high-quality light-weighted cotton. Plus, it's 'my style' I mean, a basic black tee is one of the must have items of my wardrobe. Not only, it's very versatile to mix & match with other bottoms, but easy to take care also.

  11. Oh wow, we don't have any markets like that here in Brisbane which is a shame, it looks like a fun but busy place to visit! :

Hope you are having a good week so far and you're getting organised for Christmas! I finished my shopping, just waiting for it all to arrive in the mail now haha.

  12. It reminds me a lot of the Philippines where you can buy everything in a very low price. Nice to see a lot of places in your blog and your photography is captivating too.

  13. I don't think anyone can give advice quite like a local can. Tourist maps and books are good but they only show you a small percent of what the country is really like. I've never been to Thailand (only stopped at the airport once or twice hahaha) but I know so many people who have and they just love it there. Especially Bangkok. I'll have to come visit soon!
