Authentic Japanese Ramen in Soho, London

Let start the new year with a food review, shall we? This is not a commissioned work or anything related, but based on my LOVE towards the Japanese food. While, I was walking around the Soho, London (yes, the area where the previous London Fashion Week took place), Sasukeramen was spotted on when I hadn't had anything since in the morning. Being Asian in the UK is quite torturing in terms of food (once you go to Asia, you will know why), because I love eating Asian food; Thai, Japanese, Korean and India. So, it is hard to find that authentic taste that I am getting used to. Most of the Asian restaurants here are run by Chinese (and there is nothing wrong with that!) However, I prefer to find the dish cooked by the real local who can satisfied me with the genuine taste.(Manchesterで日本 レストランが少ししかありおません、Sasukeramen を見つかった時はうれしかったですね!)

AUTHENTIC JAPANESE RAMEN IN LONDON

Japanese Ramen has always been one of my favourite selections (well, actually I love everything about the food). Since I moved to Manchester, I have tried a lot of Japanese food including Ramen, Sushi, and etc. If you ask me if I like those Sushi plates? My answer will always be ' it is alright, but it is not real' Except Yuzu, the only Japanese restaurant which always makes me pleased. Some may say what is the difference, though the chef can just prepare and serve the food with the ingredients provided at a supermarket. However, 100% different I must say. I have been to a few Thai restaurants in Manchester, but it felt weird. The food didn't taste like where I come from due to the ingredients here. Besides, I worked at a Thai restaurant before, so it's really necessary to import or buy Thai ingredients in order to provide the customers the best dining experience. It is complicated to be Asian lol.

In my opinion, the best part of eating Ramen is the broth(soup). The balance of the ingredients makes everything in a bowl mixed perfectly together. What I had at Sasukeramen was a Spicy Miso Chashu, Ramen with extra pork topping. Also, I ordered extra half egg since I love it like that. When I was a kid, I loved watching TV Champion, especially the Ramen episode. I have followed how to eat Ramen properly since I watched that TV program hahaha. Some might eat the noodle right away, but what I have always remembered is to drink the soup first, then follow with the noodle and pork or whatever filled in the bowl. Also, the side dish I ordered was a homemade Gyoza, and it was really delicious!

The price was quite high, but hello this is London, the top ranked city with the most expensive living expense. Everything in London is all about money, including counting down the new year around the London Eye (yep! you have to pay for the price) However, I would totally recommend this place if you are looking for the Asian food to try in the UK. You may or may not like it, but for me, I can't wait to go back there again!

  6. Ingredients make all of the difference. I can see why things would taste different and feel "off" for you.

  13. This place looks really great and as you've said, the prices on the menu were most likely reflecting the London area! I really want to experiment more with regard to restaurants/food, so this motivates me a bit to try new places! :)
