How I Save 13K for Master Degree in the UK

You might know that I am a fashion blogger with the Master Degree background, but you may not know that I paid 3/4 of the tuition fee myself. I was an international student, so the amount I had to pay was 13K GBP in 2014. The moment I had no savings left in the bank account was tremendously horrid...Like c'mon, I have to start ALL OVER AGAIN! However, they say education is an investment...I spent 3 years working my ass off, and yes it paid off. How to save the money effectively like I did? Here are a few tips from me to you. Don't know if it's gonna work at your end, but this is how I roll baby.

1.) ALWAYS HAVE 2 BANK ACCOUNTS

That's right, I have opened 2 bank accounts; 1 for spending and 1 for savings. Besides, I only have used the debit card because I do not want to overspend and get myself in debt. I have seen a lot of people paying the money back to their credit card holders because they spend way too much on what they want. I know, I am a girl too, sometimes, it is really hard to resist the items we desperately want to have. Therefore, this is the effective way to save the money (for me). Having 2 cards makes me relieved, because I still have the money saved in the other account, no matter how much I want to swipe the card.

2.) PASSIVE INCOME

This is totally the strategy. The passive income is the key. I don't want to commit myself to just one full-time job, since the passive income is what I have aimed in life. I have learnt from the workshop Rich Dad Poor Dad that having the property is the way to make money. However, I don't have much money to invest on the estate..just yet. Therefore, the passive income as described by The Equinox Fashion means 'work on a lot of projects' Though, you might stick to the full-time job, you can absolutely find something else to do as well! If you are a blogger, why not being a part-time contributor?!

3.) CURRENCY

Last but not least, collect money in a different currency. I am Thai, and its currency is somehow lower than any other countries out there. So, working for the client who pay in other currencies always helps. Or at least, just keep the foreign notes after you back from the vacation! Wait until the rate goes up, then you can exchange back!

  17. That is seriously impressive, go girl! I am terrible with money, even with three bank accounts lol (I attempted that method a few years back but somehow, and I'm looking at your 2016, my savings account was perpetually depleted.)

  22. Great tips! I put everything into my savings and only have a small amount in my checking at any given time. That helps to make sure I don't go on a spending spree.

  24. Hey Gail, great tips as always. I personally don't use credit cards or I'd charge up a storm. I like to use my debit with a visa logo since it works just like credit but comes right out of my account. That way I don't spend what I don't have. Happy new year beautiful!
