I went to Shoreditch probably like 10 times, compared to London Eye, which was "zero" Told you, I have never wanted to go where all the tourists go, though I spent my money on the budget just to fly to the UK. What can I say, I am a fashion blogger with an individual mind. Whenever I travel, I have always wanted to go where all the local people go. I wanna eat, and hang around where all those hips and cool boys & girls go. This is it, "SHOREDITCH" My most favourite spot in London. I just don't know why, but it has cast a 'love' spell on me deeply. London is a tourist city, but this hidden (maybe not that hidden) gem is the place I could feel the feelin' of true British hipsters/youngsters.
CREATIVE STREET ART IS ALL AROUND
If you are into this kind of thing, Shoreditch maybe the place you can find lots of cool street art. Graffiti on the wall, painting on the brick wall, or even these stuff on the building. I just can't guys. It has a charm within itself, and there's no need of a lime light like any other places. I actually feel like Manchester is somehow reminds me of Shoreditch, especially at the Norther Quarter, where the coolest graffiti is located. Well, I love the hipster area, so...
YOU CAN FIND LOTS OF VINTAGE AND RETRO STORES AT SHOREDITCH
There are a lot of retro and vintage shops at Shoreditch. You may think that the clothes are cheap, right? Think again, because they are not. The second-handed clothes sometimes can be more expensive than ASOS or Missguided actually. However, I got a few pairs of sunglasses, which was 10GBP each, so 30 quid in total.
STREET FOOD IS BRILL!
I live in Bangkok, Thailand (as Thai fashion blogger for now), so I familiar with the street food very well. When I was at Shoreditch, I had a chance to try freshly made Takoyaki (because why not?!). Maybe it wasn't as great as what I had in Tokyo, but it was alright. In fact, it's better than having nothing to eat anyway. I love Asian food, so anything was good for me that time.
thanks for your recommendations! I'm agree that it's better visit the non-turistic places, the turistic places just want to make money and are more expensive because they know that people will go there and won't mind to expend money, that's why avoid them!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to visit shoreditch, but you've made me want to go even more now! When the hell were you in London?! I'd love to have met up!

I'm just like you when it comes to traveling: I don't care where the touristy places are, I want to be where the locals hang out. I went to Paris recently and people seem to be having a bad time understanding why I didn't go to the Eiffel Tower, but I just had other priorities ;) Great post!

Yumm the takoyaki looks so delicious! You got me super hungry looking at it! Shoreditch reminds me of universal studios especially with the large display on the top of the building, kind of like the transformers at the theme park haha. I would love to go there someday when I'm in London. Thanks for suggesting this! xo~ Lena
