Shopping Experience at MCR Student Takeover

Tuesday 30th September 2014, The Equinox Fashion was invited to participate in a "Student Night Out" hosted in Manchester, United Kingdom, with an exclusive deals, discounts and special offers from wide variety shops and brands. 

Some of you may know that I am currently accomplishing my MA: International Marketing Management, as well as, being a blogger based in Manchester, my favourite crazy city on earth. And of course, nothing is better than treating myself with a little break from the shopping mall. "MCR Student Takeover" wasn't that easy because it was so packed! I went to Arndale, one of the biggest shopping center in Manchester, and it fulled of students from all over the places. 

Music kept going on, as well as, insanely discounts provided for students, everybody went from stores to stores with loads of bags in their hands. "Retailers across the city centre will be keeping their doors open late, providing discounts of up to 30% for students with valid student ID/NUS cards. Stores offering discounts include adidas, Accessorize, Cath Kidston, Diesel, DKNY, Fopp, French Connection, H&M, Gap and so much more" said Manchester Arndale. 

After receiving a special voucher from Arndale (Thank you so much!) I went straight to Topshop since I had an eye on so many items which would be a perfect treat for my master degree life. It was a great experience actually because I had never seen loads of students shopping in the same time like this before. It wasn't just girls but guys also had a great time shopping for their favourite brands too, especially Topman and Superdry. 

However, what I bought was the latest lipstick from Topshop which the price was covered in my voucher! This's totally made my day lol 

And thank you Manchester Arndale so much for this special treat for my MA life. You're amazing :)

Event: AX PARIS AW14 Collection

On September 27th 2014, The Equinox Fashion was invited to AX PARIS AW14 Collection hosted by AX PARIS in Manchester. If you are expecting a wow factor of the combinations between glam+chic sensation, this AW14 collection can be the right answer for this season. 

What do I love about the collection?

Even though I am a street fashion blogger, I do love the fact that the wide variety products provided from AX PARIS in the event were really beautiful and somehow triggered the feminine side out of me. Personally, I would define this brand as one of a woman's BFFs because the variety of designs are not only speak the character of the word "feminine" But the chic selections for night out occasions are so attractive still affordable!

Check In: Purr Cat Cafe

Warning: If you are a cat lover, this post may be able to make your heart literally melt. 

In Bangkok, Thailand, there are a broad range of activities and places to check out including historical sites, as well as retro bars&restaurants. However, if you prefer somewhere chillaxing where you can simply ease up your stress and tension from your daily routine, I will recommend "Purr Cat Cafe Club" the heart-melting place for cat lovers.

Personally, I am a dog person but I don't really mind spending my time in playing with any other animals. From buffalo, elephant, monkey to street cat, I have played with them all. Maybe I should write a post about my animal journey, shouldn't I? lol Purr Cat Cafe, a community for cats themselves and human like us located only 10 minutes walking from BTS (Bangkok Sky Train) at Thonglor Station. You can either exercise by walking or get a motorbike taxi for a fast track. 

Some of you probably wonder what a street fashion blogger like me doing in this place? Well, this is such a cool place to experiment with though it was actually my first time to be surrounded by loads of cats and wide variety of magazines&books to entertain myself. What I did when I was at the cafe was of course selfie with the cat (Who wouldn't!?) Unfortunately, those kitties moved around all the time so I hardly had a chance to have a high-quality one. Still, you can't use flash nor pick those cats up unless they approach you due to the cafe's regulations. Why? Because Purr Cat Cafe doesn't want any unexpected situations to occur since the cats do not familiar with us strangers. Mostly, I just sat at my tiny table and observed them instead of following around, however, there's one moody cat walked straight to me and just simply laid on my fringe bag. Thank you H&M, not only fashion bloggers love you, but so does the cat! 

These cats are very lucky indeed! I have an opportunity to occasionally visit and donate some of my money to those cats and dogs charities, and it makes me feel like I want to do something for these lives because they need to be well taken care of by their owners not being left or given away like that. Some of them are left while others injured from the accident. They are animals, and they can't speak. Therefore, I would love to do something to make a change. Even just a small amount of money can save their lives.

Star Wars

It has been raining in Bangkok, Thailand almost everyday but fortunately the sky is still cheerful as always. That's why I wish I wouldn't have to leave this beautiful place known as my mother land. However, Manchester is coming real soon, or even too soon to prepare everything just right in time! I have several errands to do and rarely go shopping anywhere because every single minute is counted. Therefore, I forced myself to be free from work just to stop by at H&M in order to pick some new goodies for my wardrobes. It has been a while since the last time I spent my money in such store, so this Star Wars top's definitely worth it. 

 80% of my time at H&M, I always merge myself with over-sized clothes at menswear's section because I love wearing L or XL or even XXL for The Equinox Fashion. Personally, I feel more positively and extremely comfy than anything tight like bodycon dresses. If you notice, I have never shown my haul or anything like those at all. 

I guess my selections are just too tomboyish to be seen...lol

For example, the Star Wars (Size L) is what I picked from random rack which placed at the back of the shop. Normally, I am kind of picky but I can be a fast shopper if nothing really interesting. I was really bored at first because there's nothing to wear. That's right girls' favourite quote "There's nothing to wear" Especially for a picky one like me. Wandering around H&M when only a few streetwear clothes provided can be a little bit frustrating. I had looked and walked and repeated such behavior around the store for probably 10 minutes until I found the Star Wars hung in the middle of nowhere. I grabbed and looked and walked to the cashier right away because I thought this's the treasure of the day! 

For me, shopping at mass production stores is very convenient because you can choose whatever you fond of but sometimes dressing like or being like any others is not gonna pick you out from the crowd. Still remember that you can make a difference by styling in your own signature look.

Festival Outfit x Taberou Clothing

To be honest, I am a bit hangover while writing this "Festival Outfit x Taberou Clothing" at the moment lol So sincerely apologize for any senseless words or any errors in my grammar which may be founded in this post. I am not a fan of an alcohol but the party last night wasn't that bad either. 

For me, festive or festival outfit means the combinations embraced with street vibe and enjoyment. There are wide variety of pretty dresses and co-ord patterns featured in many social medias which can be a great inspiration for us in this Summer. However, in the season like this I would rather go for my favourite leggings from Taberou Clothing. 

I have collaborated with the brand several time even the previous post wearing their independent designer crop top and graphic printed skirt. But now I am back to the square one since I just can't get away with any other selections but street style that long. So, hello to my favourite leggings!!!

To Manchester x Rock On Ruby

From Bangkok to Florida, Chicago, London, Kathmandu, California and etc These cities have unquestionably taught me how to appreciate life and living things because my life itself is not merely about street fashion but music and travelling as well. In other words, these factors make me feel alive. 

Some of you may perceive that I am moving to Manchester, United Kingdom in September and will be a blogger based, also study international fashion marketing management for my Master Degree for a year. It is definitely not the 1st time moving, but it is my very first stage of "moving alone" And the fact that I am still not getting used to British accent&culture that much. I lived in United States before but I had friends to support me, or in fact my life didn't even have such assertive purposes in those days. So, life was pretty smooth and fun during the verge of becoming a pre-adulthood. However, why Manchester not London this time? 

Actually, I love city life, I love being inspired, I love living in massive cities like New York or Chicago, but the characters within Manchester can fulfill my needs in street fashion. Moreover, my goal is to do something with fashion in town, so I absolutely need to discover and do things as many as I possibly can. Even though, its size is not that big compared to where I have been before, it still a good option to give it a shot. Some people even said to me "Oh! why you have to go there? What are you gonna do with fashion in such city like that? People are so rude, the city is dirty blah blah blah" But if you are a city girl, you will understand the way of life in a big city. And I love it like that. Well, if you live in Chicago before, that means you have passed the test of risking your life in such a dangerous city (Still wanna go back though lol) Especially, going solo will be an extremely risky yet interesting experience. 

Am I nervous? Yes, of course! But i don't really give a S*** about it that much. I know my feelings, and I let them stay there without having any influences on my track. Plus, America has taught me so well of how to be strong and handle unexpected situations. This story sounds like a movie but it really an actual "based on my true story"

"I had never expected to sit on the pavement of the street just to wait for a random transportation to go back home but it happened in Orlando, Florida 6 years ago. I got on a bus to go to another town which I had to do something with my paper work, unfortunately I was informed that I came to the wrong place. OMFG! It took me an hour on the bus just to get here and breath for 5 minutes! So, I had to catch another ride to go back home. However, it wasn't that easy since there weren't any buses...lol I had a phone but i didn't know who to call because I had just arrived Orlando a day before. I tried to go from stores to stores in order to ask for help but few people speaking English because they were Spanish. At the end of the day, I sat on the street and waited for luck to come. I was really scared though because I didn't even know if I would be able to make it home. Think about the movie scene of Hangover or anything that the characters have to hitchhike strangers' cars. Oh yea, I was so lucky to experience such a movie scene like that! Finally, the bus came in hour later which means I could finally catch it to downtown....:)"

What I am trying to say is going abroad can be fun and pain in the same time. However, it can be a great moment of your life. Eventually, you will have a story to tell your kids in the future of what you've been through.

Who Define The Word "Cool"? x Margo

As days go by, every single hour single minute is well-spent by your desire, but have you ever realized that you are living in an era of technology consumption? Like an Instagram issue that I discussed in this post, or even a normal scene by surrounding people who seem to spend their time in moving their thumbs up&down on the screens. Yes, I am one of those people who couldn't live without such gadget because I addicted to social media. 

We all have different reasons why we have to use these social media networks, some want to get in touch with friends/families/coworkers and etc while some take advantage of them as inspirational sources. Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and other social medias are necessary if you live in the industry of entertaining such as art and fashion because it can be a place which you can showcase your masterpiece, however, I read a survey of an attitude of some people towards such social medias, and the result was a bit surprising yet agreeable as they commented "It is a place where we all show off to one another" 

It sounds harsh but if you think of it as a case study, I think it can be true though. It can be said that fashion bloggers like us need social medias, and social medias need us because they are the fast track to spread the words. However, it doesn't mean that you have to have loads of followers to make you look cool. 

Personally, I have observed wide variety photos yet look alike at some points in many users'. And why is that happening? Because we all want to be cool, to be accepted by others. Everyone wants to be accepted, I do too but is it really that important to be like somebody else to make yourself look cool? I have been in this industry for almost 3 years, and I have learnt from many people I have met including those bloggers who bought Instagram's followers and those wannabe types. The thing is, do you wanna be like someone else or rather be "you" the one who defines your own coolness? If you want to change or modify yourself to look like others, then what's the point of being you? Some might question "But how we are gonna reach the brands if we don't have many followers?" My simple answer is "Would you prefer brands who only care your followers or your work?" I myself don't have 10k followers, and never think of wasting my money to buy them because I just want to be liked and appreciated of who I really am not the numbers shown. I have been rejected by some brands because I don't have certain followers they expect, but there are brands who also really look at my portfolio, and that's why they say yes to the collaborations.

Most brands I have collaborated with are very friendly and don't take the opportunities for granted. And one of the brands I really admire is "Margo" the jumper I am wearing right now also provided by them. The head designer of Margo added me on Facebook, and we have been talking since then. She has never asked me for numbers of followers or traffic, but only said "I love your style"

So, what I can learn from all of my experiences is that you can get many inspirations from others as you like, but eventually there is only you in this world. Yes just you.
