Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

📍Osaka, Japan

Being a fashion blogger of The Equinox Fashion for years, this journey has taught me many things. Both good and bad, I can totally see the progress through. Especially, when we are online mostly everyday, keeping up with what everyone else is doing is important. However, aren't you tired? For me, I am. I mean, I'm tired of thinking and comparing myself to what the online sphere like Instagram has got in store for me. Personally, the number of follower use to be the center of the universe. Why? Because, we are Instagrammer and numbers are everything. Not only for the sake of fame, but also the chance to work with the brands. But, I've stopped concerning about it for over 6 months, and I couldn't be happier. I've shifted my focus on the content "My style, my story" Stop comparing yourself to others is the greatest feeling.

The Happiness of Rewarding Yourself

Some may reward themselves once in a while, depending on the special event, or big achievement. However, some people also give themselves a treat whenever they feel like to, and one of those people is 'me' I have read a lot of self-improvement, and positive thinking books a lot, and most of them recommend to reward ourselves as many times as we want because our brains will remember that feeling of 'happiness' As it is said ''whatever we think, we achieve" So, the more we feel happy, the more happiness will bring to our lives. Personally, we don't need to celebrate just for the massively successful occasion, because we can also appreciate the little things too. As for myself, I have been informed about the custom product, which I have always wanted to put 'The Equinox Fashion' in the design. So, I may reward myself with my custom made tablet.

What Do I Learn from being a Fashion Blogger

It has been almost 4 years since I started writing The Equinox Fashion. The first year was the experiment period actually because I still had the full-time job (as a content writer for German e-commerce company based in Bangkok, Thailand), so I didn't really take it seriously compared to these two years when I really focus on it, and constantly improve my blog to become better and better. I always ask myself "what do I learn from being a fashion blogger?" To be honest, I think we all ask ourselves the same question what do we really gain from being fashion bloggers right? From Bangkok based to become Manchester fashion blogger, here is what I have learnt (so far).

Risky Outfit

Earrings- Hidden Treasure

'Risky Outfit' is not just about how we mix&match the palettes and bold prints, but how we choose the outfits also. I am not an expert about fashion, I don't usually wear a dress because I am more into tomboyish monochrome style, however, I have recently seen young teenage girls and they make me wonder how their parents let them come outside with the outfits like that? Being a teenagers is fun because it is the time of experiment, but too much disclosure can be dangerous too. To be honest, the teenage girls these days know what they are doing. I couldn't even pair the clothing pieces together when I was young because I didn't know how and what to wear. I didn't even know what fashion was actually. Speaking as an old person right here, I think some young girls whom I have seen so far dressing up in quite a risky way.

Dream or Family

Yesterday, I had a chance to be interviewed by Luna Vega regarding the topic about the difference between the fashion industry between Thailand and UK, as well as, some other topics such as The Equinox Fashion blogging experience, style, online retailers etc. During the interview, there were so many ideas, also honestly opinions toward the fashion industry in different perspectives popping up in my head. Somehow, it has made me realize that I am extremely happy to be back home in Bangkok, Thailand because I can spend my time with my beloved family and 16 years old dog which grew up together with me. Therefore, the question is should I follow "Dream or Family"

(This is going to be the sincere voice of mine, and you guys may have different opinions which I don't really mind listening to.)

Some of us might know that I love blogging, it is my f*** life and that is the reason why I set off to Manchester, United Kingdom in order to pursue my career because I think that UK is one of the biggest places for bloggers like us. I have had fun during London Fashion Week since 2013 to the latest, and I have received a really good opportunity collaborating with brands, as well as, a photo shoot with other forefront bloggers of UK. Everything's going great. Manchester is a great city and the blogger community is lovely, however, I have felt lately that it is still small for me. I grew up in big city life and Manchester is only 1/4 of where I am from. I have done everything strategically like what I have planned because I really have a strong passion for this industry. I am not gonna lie but most of us wanna become bigger people, gain reputation and more income. Me too, I wanna become influential blogger who inspire others not just showing my #ootd. I feel really blessed and proud of myself of how far I have become. I have started writing my blog with my own two hands and now it grows potentially. I have adapted what I have learned from my MA in marketing and applied to improve the effectiveness of my website. Idgaf about who's competing with who because I only compete with myself. And I don't care to use f words in this blogosphere because it is my voice, and I am not a girly person anyway.

I have been running my online store called Hidden Treasure, selling quirky earrings. It is fun to come up with marketing plan and constantly improve my strategy. It maybe a bit slow but its process is going with the flow because I have to make sure that every stage is run effectively. It's great tbh because I feel more becoming a business woman :)

I have always wanted to move to either New York or London to pursue my career in blogging, however, I have been thinking over and over again if this decision is the right one. For me, career always comes first but now I am in Bangkok with my family, I feel really happy. For some reasons, it's kinda like hesitating my choices about moving and blogging. I only live once and I know it. I need to push myself and make this dream not to be just a dream, however, I feel really sad to make up my mind because if I can find a job and move to somewhere, that means I will never be able to see my family that often.

I really don't know what to do with my life, lots of confusions going on in my head. Or maybe I will see how things go when I'm back to Manchester next Saturday. We will see..

I Don't Have any Style Icons in Fashion

It has been a few years in this blogging journey and I feel appreciate about everything I have done in every activity including being a volunteer or doing a photo shoot with other fashion bloggers, however, I still don't have any style icons in fashion industry.

Last year, I remembered saying "I don't have any specific styles or favourite stars in this industry since I always inspired by music"

Yesterday, I was asked if I had ever been influenced by any of my friends or culture, my answer's still "No, I don't even feel like I can be influenced by anyone when the only thing that triggers me is 'music'"

I actually mean it when I said that because I can maintain my personal branding as a street fashion blogger, not being changed by what society expects. It's like you know some people are easily influenced by what others are wearing and eventually they have merged themselves into the mainstream of the fashion trend. However, it's not going to drive us anywhere if we are wearing the same products, or have similar style like others.

Actually, it is like a weird feeling to be in this industry without the style icon like everybody else. I browse online and see what other people wear, or even read the article about the red carpet's fashion, however, I still feel like it doesn't suit me anyway. It is true that we all have to adapt the trend to be in our own styles, but sometimes it doesn't work that way because whatever that doesn't work is still going not to work. I have seen many celebrities or fashion bloggers wear flares or 70s vibe clothing pieces lately, and I think they look chic and beautiful, but such fashion style will never work on me since I am too short to wear flares LOL. Besides, my style is a street style and I don't want to be 70s trendy girl when I feel the most comfort in my own look.

So what kind of music that inspires me?

I love rock music *smile* but lately I have been into electronica tune. It always motivates me to go to my wardrobes and bring out the best in me. Well, my favourite artists or Djs are varied, but mostly I listen to Skrillex, Prodigy and Nicky Romero. I don't really listen to pop music or mainstream that much since I get bored easily. Honestly, I also listen to Beatles too :)

Peaceful State of Mind

Recently, I have been reading the book called 'Peaceful of Mind' written by a monk and it actually helps me improving my own thinking process to be more systematically and practically in any situations. I think to be calm is what I really need after the maximum level of tension I had been through during the downward occasions. Now, it makes me realize how happy it is to stop thinking and worrying about the things which hasn't happened yet. It stops me from doubting my capabilities in coping with my own work, as well as, future plan.

I don't know about you but I feel so good about myself since I have stopped myself from becoming overwhelmed by random thoughts. People always ask me if I have ever felt under controlled or being pressured by workload at all? Even once I had to finish three assignments from my Master's programme before running to two events in the same week. My answer always be "No, why should I stress about it?" I used to live under tension but I don't let it kill me that easily. I love keeping myself busy and working 22 hours a day. Call me crazy but it's in my veins. I don't know why should I stress over these things which hasn't occurred yet. Thanks to the 'self-improvement' books I have always read including The Secret, also Chicken Soup by Jack Canfield because these books are the truly treasures I wouldn't even wanna trade with anything else.

As some of you may know that I'm not into studying (but still taking MA course, don't know if I'm trying to kill myself lol) but I love to experiment in reality. I don't really care about grades because at the end of the day grades are not increasing my income nor making me step into the further position of the company. That's the reason why I choose to focus on 'work' instead of dealing with 10 things at the same time.

My best advice to you is to "get organize" it really works and always will be. You can't control everything instantaneously because we are all human beings not a robot. Choose whatever necessary to you most and stay focus on that with your best effort. You may have some other tips to stay calm but this is how I treat myself to have the "peaceful state of mind"

Two-toned Sequin Dress

In the previous post 'Get 20% Off from Girl In Mind' I talked about my shopping experience with online retailer 'Girl In Mind' which I am in love with, however, it is not just about electric blue jumper I have gotten from the brand but this 'two-toned sequin dress' also.

Once in a while for me as a street fashion blogger of The Equinox Fashion to get dressed up like PROPER dress if you know what I mean because I always wear pants or something street style not the girly girl vibe. However,  to have that one dress in the wardrobe is also crucial to all of us since we are women, and we must have one item which ready to be put on in any occasions. Even though I wear monochrome or even dark colours to special occasions at night time, it doesn't look appropriate to wear black in every situation.

That's why I made a decision to add this Marie Heavy Sequin Dress in my closet because it would be very useful for my fashion events. I love these two tones dress because it's mixed with green and blue, the colours which I am obsessed at the moment. I had one sequin top in black but I rarely wear it since it is too itchy because the lining inside is too thin, but this Marie is very comfy because the lining is attached inside properly. Another reason why I had to have this dress as a part of my collection is its bling bling shiny ability or whatever we would call it lol It just so BRIGHT and looks so outstanding when taking photos. Have I ever told you guys that I love bling bling items?! I actually love those vibrant colours and match them with my signature black. To be honest...:)

Baby Grafea

The Equinox fashion first time teamed up with Grafea, Manchester based brand for a street style photo shoot in November.Fortunately, I also had a chance to tag team with the same talented photographer ''Amy'' for the 2nd photo shoot last month.

'Photo Shoot with Grafea, Manchester' was a bit of 90s grunge/punk rock style since I was wearing black faux fur jacket with high-waist pants and bright blue Grafea bag. However, this time I decided to wear less makeup with more vivid top just like this Simpsons top which I received from my friend at the last day when I was in Bangkok, Thailand.

In 2015, I am intending to step up my game yet stepping out from the comfort zone by wearing more colourful clothes, as well as, improving on the quality of the content. Right back to the very first moment of my blogging career, I was one of those people out there who weren't so sure of what to write about. Whether the contents should be about product review or just a simply diary of a teenage life. I didn't even know to be honest...It took me ages to figure it out what to write! Now, all I know is I just want to communicate with you guys through this sphere which I call my life, while, creating the contents that 'reachable' to you all. From collaborations/photo shoots with the brands to bad experiences, I share them all.
