How to Love Your Body Size

I've gained weight probably 8 kg since I came back from Manchester. Living in Bangkok means that you can find delicious food and dessert 24/7. So, who else to blame except me? Actually, I exercise 4 to 5 days a week, but the weight seems to be stable...Maybe I just can't cut down the portion of rice and bread...What more can I say? I can't live without these though. I felt ashamed of my body, and didn't have any confidence to wear the sleeveless tank-top anymore, due to the massive arms I have had. However, I've found a peaceful state of mind to make me feel like "it's ok" to wear whatever I like. Therefore, if you are with me, I hope this post can somehow uplift the spirit of dwelling on your body size.

How to Create Modern 90's Fashion Look

First of all, I am a 90's baby. I was born in the era of Nirvana, No Doubt, Backstreet Boys, Savage Garden, TLC, and more. I still remember the simple piece of elastic choker, which has become a trendy accessory these days. Of course, I am extremely happy about this trend, because it obviously takes me back to my childhood. You probably remember me as a fashion blogger with the rock chic look from The Equinox Fashion Instagram. However, the urban grunge style is my signature right now. How to create the modern 90's fashion look? Welcome to my streetstyle fashion bible.

How Street Photographers Influence My Blog #RIPBILLCUNNINGHAM

As some of you may know that the legendary Bill Cunningham has passed away at the age of 87. It was very devastating news as I am one of those who admire and love his photography. I am always thrilled and excited whenever I have the chance to meet a street fashion photographers. As I said, I love taking photos, so they are such a true inspiration to me. I am not into celebrities or A-listed fashion icons, but those talented people are the ones who uplift my spirit. When you meet one of your heroes, you would know how it feels, right?

Happiness Guide

We may or may not have those days that we wish we could delete from our memories. Some may live the happiest lives (you're lucky!),  but like I said no one is perfect. At least we may come across the days which keep haunting us. I am also one of those people, and I guess most of us also have the same experience, right? However, this is the new day, and I believe that the happiness does exist if we allow it to be. So, here is my 'happiness guide'

Everyday Life

This is it, my normal outfit when I was in Bangkok, Thailand

If you have followed me on Instagram, you may find that most of the photos are me wearing boots, wedges or something fancy, however, this is the reality of me wearing sandals and shorts.

I am one of those people who love dressing up in streetstyle, but I also don't really care to wear sandals wherever I go. Being a fashion blogger doesn't mean that we have to look perfectly from top to toe right? Because we are all human-being who live and breath like everyone else.

Sometimes, I also wear old pj to supermarket at night seriously I just can't be bothered wearing leather jacket or boyfriend denim to grocery store. I am not a lazy person but sandals make me feel so comfortable. Especially, the weather was really hot in Bangkok and jeans would burning me if I put them on. Therefore, shorts could always be my solution in the heat.

Sorry I am still having jet lag because I just arrived UK yesterday morning. So, I will absolutely write a proper post in the next article :)

Breaking Rocks

Hello from Dubai!

It's been about 7 hours flying from Manchester to Dubai and now I am actually waiting for the flight to Bangkok, Thailand. However, I still have an hour left before departing to my home country. Hence, it would be the perfect time to update the latest collaboration with the new online clothing store "Breaking Rocks" who generously sent me this super cute&cool donuts sweatshirt a few weeks ago.

As you know, I am a fan of the 'sweatshirt' so no surprise why I opted for this over-sized donuts sweatshirt when the brand asked me to choose my most favourtite product! I'm not gonna lie but April had been one of the hella nightmare month in my entire life because I had to finish THREE assignments which were due on the same week...Crazy... Honestly, I spent April in hopping between my room and supermarket lol I literally felt like a robot with no limited energy. However, I have finally accomplished it, so I absolutely want to celebrate the new beginning of my life by wearing more colourful clothes. If you have a chance to visit my Instagram, you can probably see that my account has been so vivid lately! Even though, I am a monochrome person, I do LOVE this kind of colourful taste because it makes me happy every time I am on the platform.

This 'Donut worry sweater' is another item added in my wardrobes and I constantly wear it. I love wearing over-sized or baggy clothes because they are so comfy and versatile in pairing with leggings or other pants. Besides, I am a fan of this street clothing brand as well since its style is so my style if you know what I am sayin'. I am not a type pf a person who wear dresses or girly products because it makes me feel awkward (sometimes lol). So, thank you Breaking Rocks for this opportunity in collaborating with The Equinox Fashion. You know it's quite hard to find the right brand who provides you the right products when it can be too mainstream at the department store where I always end up buying nothing.

I Don't Have any Style Icons in Fashion

It has been a few years in this blogging journey and I feel appreciate about everything I have done in every activity including being a volunteer or doing a photo shoot with other fashion bloggers, however, I still don't have any style icons in fashion industry.

Last year, I remembered saying "I don't have any specific styles or favourite stars in this industry since I always inspired by music

Yesterday, I was asked if I had ever been influenced by any of my friends or culture, my answer's still "No, I don't even feel like I can be influenced by anyone when the only thing that triggers me is 'music'"

I actually mean it when I said that because I can maintain my personal branding as a street fashion blogger, not being changed by what society expects. It's like you know some people are easily influenced by what others are wearing and eventually they have merged themselves into the mainstream of the fashion trend. However, it's not going to drive us anywhere if we are wearing the same products, or have similar style like others.

Actually, it is like a weird feeling to be in this industry without the style icon like everybody else. I browse online and see what other people wear, or even read the article about the red carpet's fashion, however, I still feel like it doesn't suit me anyway. It is true that we all have to adapt the trend to be in our own styles, but sometimes it doesn't work that way because whatever that doesn't work is still going not to work. I have seen many celebrities or fashion bloggers wear flares or 70s vibe clothing pieces lately, and I think they look chic and beautiful, but such fashion style will never work on me since I am too short to wear flares LOL. Besides, my style is a street style and I don't want to be 70s trendy girl when I feel the most comfort in my own look.

So what kind of music that inspires me?

I love rock music *smile* but lately I have been into electronica tune. It always motivates me to go to my wardrobes and bring out the best in me. Well, my favourite artists or Djs are varied, but mostly I listen to Skrillex, Prodigy and Nicky Romero. I don't really listen to pop music or mainstream that much since I get bored easily. Honestly, I also listen to Beatles too :)

Sweatshirt is My Comfort Zone

"Sweatshirt is my comfort zone" I totally mean it when I said that because it is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobes.

I have been a street fashion blogger for almost four years (time flies!) and I can see lots of progressions in me including my street style which seems to be a bit different from the beginning. However, one thing that I haven't changed a bit is my purchasing behaviour. Call me crazy because I keep buying similar sweatshirts whenever I go shopping. In my heart, I truly realize that I need to stop this habit because I have probably 5 or 6 sweatshirts alike...well they are in different colours anyway lol.

Personally, I love purchasing sweatshirts from online retailers, especially street fashion stores because they always provide me as one of the customers a wide variety of cool sweatshirts that you may not be able to find in department stores. In fact, the quality of the products offered by some high-street retails may not be as good as online's. From my experience, I bought the sweatshirt from Topshop a while ago, and now I feel as if I wasted my money because the fabric and material of the product is so rubbish (meh!)

Recently, I have got an email from "The Yub" shop, an online street fashion retailers based in Singapore, asked me if I would love to select any pieces from the website. Of course! I would love to because its items are so unique! Even what I am wearing right now is also from The Yub shop, this hardcore Monroe has been one of my favourite pieces so far because I haven't seen anyone in Manchester wearing it yet. Also, instead of choosing my signature black colour, I decided to go for the vibrant one. This pink sweatshirt is very versatile like I mentioned since I have mixed and matched with a broad range of bottoms such as leggings and skinny denim.

It is such a good feeling when you eventually find the right shop who can provides you the right clothes which you can call your style!

"I Felt Embarrassed Wearing Traditional Outfits...So Elepprint was Born!"

The Equinox Fashion was born from my passion to street style, however, it also leads me to people from all around the world. Apart from fashion, getting to know others is what I have always wanted to do since life always surprises me in both positive and negative ways, sometimes you think you know certain people but actually you don't until the day you really have a chance to get to know them by having a conversation. To be honest, I am one of those perplex types of people, so just one conversation may not be enough lol I am extremely down to earth and funny person, but I don't really let anyone get to know me that easily. I am very open-minded person but it is not easy to live in this modernized society when you don't know who's being honest or who wants to take benefits from you right? It's not just about me or fashion bloggers out there, but I love to get to know more about the brands I have worked with too. Recently, "Elepprint" sent me an email and asked me if I wanted to style its t-shirt with the elephant symbol as the logo of the brand. I said yes because I am an animal person so I thought it was just another elephant conservation, however, I was wrong, totally wrong.

The brand's created by Mong Vang who felt embarrassed wearing his own traditional outfits because his root's from Hmong, an ethnic group originally from South East Asia. Being Asian grew up abroad can make some people feel awkward too because you just look different from others. When I was young, I had a chance to be an exchange student at NZ and surprisingly those students at the college looked at me and my friends like we were aliens Lmao but I got the best host family and friends who took care of me, so I had such a great time. Anyway, the story behind Elepprint is amazed me because the brand's born from a strong passion of one person who wants to expose his ethnic to society.

"My name is Mong Vang and I am the owner of the small apparel brand “Elepprint”. As a young minority growing up in America, I felt embarrassed wearing traditional outfits around because they were too exotic, so I searched for contemporary apparels with any essence of a cultural identifier, but unfortunately, there weren't any. So “Elepprint” was born! Like other branded apparels such as Abercrombie and Fitch, Locoste, etc...my logo is made up of an Elephant and Swirl embroidery at the left chest. The Elephant represents royalty, strength, power, and much more in Asia, Africa, Europe, and even in the Americas. The swirl is a design from textiles created by the tribal ethnic Hmong minorities from Southeast Asia. The swirl represents an elephant's foot stomp, which Hmong ancestors followed to the water source/survival. Color is a powerful way to radiate optimism and positivity, so our design comes in many colors such as Black, White, Blue, Red, Green, Pink, and other colors upon request. We hope to expand to polos, sweaters, hoodies, caps, pants, and so much more in the future"

The tee I received was made in MN and it is 100% cotton, it is a simple piece but very versatile when styling because I can mix and match it with almost anything. If any of you want to know about the brand, you can visit the website or Facebook for more information.

Bloggers Fashion Week

On March 27, 2015, The Equinox Fashion had such a great opportunity to participate in "Bloggers Fashion Week" hosted by Bloggers Love. Even though, it was the first time I took part as a blogger, I really had an amazing time networking with several brands out there. I was supposed to go on 26 as well, but I couldn't make it due to the errand I had to do in Manchester. However, it was worth to drive down to London for this event, as well as, the meeting with Warehouse which I had to meet the PR team in the next day.

In my opinion, I think the event like Bloggers Fashion Week's a very good idea since it's not just about bloggers, drinks and freebies but also the connection that we all could cultivate the relationship with the brands. Personally, networking is very crucial in the fashion industry because the more people you know, the more connection you have. Exclusively, if we are bloggers, we need to talk to people and introduce ourselves in order to be known for the name of ourselves, also our blogs. As it can be seen nowadays that both bloggers and brands are seeking for the opportunity to work together as I mentioned in previous post that somehow bloggers can be the new PR in this digital communication system. Some people may ask "why do they have to present themselves in person and why not just emailing to the companies?" My one and only answer as fashion blogger and the co-founder of the brand (yes I am running my earring brand called Hidden Treasure) is it makes us as a brand to get to know you better. The brands are able to see your personality which can be measured if you are suitable for them.

At Bloggers Fashion Week, I met several brands and had a chance to talk to them in person such as COMB, Umberto Giannini, LipGlam, Tara Osborne Jewellery, Magnitone and MDMflow. Surprisingly, I just published the post reviewing the green lipstick sent from MDMflow 2 days before meeting the brand at the event. I was like WOW!

Here are some of the photos I took at the event.
